Man charged with arson after fire in Old Town flats

A LEAMINGTON man has been charged with arson following a fire at a block of flats in south Leamington.

Police were called to Christine Ledger Square on Sunday April 22 at about 10pm by members of Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service, which was dealing with a fire in a flat on the sixth floor.

A 36-year-old man appeared before magistrates the following day and has been charged with arson with intent to endanger life. He has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance on August 3.

Warwickshire Police is appealing for witnesses. Anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity around Christine Ledger Square on April 22, or has any information which would help them with their enquiries should call Supt Vince Smith at Leamington local investigations on 415000 extension 4036.
