BOCCIA star Nigel Murray’s hopes of a double gold medal haul at the Paralympic Games have been ended.

Competing in the semi-finals of the Mixed Team BC1-2 event today, Murray and his GB team mates were comprehensively beaten 18-1 by Thailand.

The team will now go for bronze against Portugal at 10.35 tomorrow morning (Tuesday) and Murray, ranked number one in BC2 category, will also compete in the singles event later in the week.

Murray, 48, from Whitnash, already has two Paralympic golds, one silver and a host of World and European medals to his name and plans to retire from the sport at the end of the Games.
