Thanksgiving service in memory of David Barby

A SERVICE of thanksgiving will be held tomorrow (Sunday) to celebrate the life of Warwickshire antiques expert, auctioneer and former Leamington Art Gallery supporter David Barby.

The service to celebrate the life of Mr Barby, who was president of the Friends of Leamington Art Gallery for ten years, will take place at St Andrew’s church in Rugby at 2.30pm.

All are welcome, although there will be sections of reserved seats for invited guests.

The flamboyant television presenter, Locke and England auctioneer and renowned antiques expert died suddenly at the end of July, aged 69.

Mr Barby, who lived with wife Janet in Hillmorton, was most famous for his frequent appearances on BBC television shows including Bargain Hunt, Flog It! and Antiques Road Trip.

Tributes to Mr Barby, who also carried out charity work for the League of Friends at Leamington Rehabilitation Hospital, have flooded in from people around Leamington and Rugby, where he was born and raised.

Celebrity friends have also paid their respects.

A private family burial service was held in Hillmorton for Mr Barby on August 16.
