Two men banned from Leamington’s pubs and clubs following assaults

VIOLENT assaults in Leamington town centre have landed two men with bans from every pub and club in the town.
Daniel Lewis Cartlidge, 21, of Bishops Itchington, received a community sentence banning him from entering licensed premises in Leamington for two years after he appeared in court on September 21.
And Sheldon Neil Michael Prince, 19, of Leamington, was barred from entering pubs and nightclubs for six months when he appeared in court on the same day.
Cartlidge received the sentence after appearing at Warwick Crown Court last week charged with a serious assault on Monday May 7.
He and two others were captured on CCTV punching a man as he left the Leamington Fish Bar in Tavistock Street at around 3.15am.
Cartlidge approached the man and knocked him to the floor. Footage showed the victim’s head bouncing off the ground, fracturing a bone in his skull.
Cartlidge ran off and denied assaulting anyone when detained by police.
Two other men were arrested later the same day.
In court, Cartlidge received a 30-month community order with 300 hours’ unpaid work and a curfew to stay at his home address in Bishop’s Itchington between 8.30pm and 6.30am every day for six months.
He must also pay £3,000 compensation to the person he assaulted and could face jail if he breaches the order.
Prince received a suspended jail sentence with his ban after appearing at Warwick Crown Court charged with an assault outside the Yorkshire Bank in Warwick Street on March 11 at 3.45am.
Prince almost straddled a man who had been knocked to the floor by another man and repeatedly punched him.
If he breaches the order, which includes 200 hours of unpaid work, Prince will be brought back to court where he too could face jail.
Photos of the two men have been circulated via Pub Watch so licensees can ensure they not break the terms of their sentences.
Insp Faz Chishty said banning orders were a vital tool in making town centres a safer place.
He added: “Both of these men now have serious convictions against them that may affect their future prospects. This sends out a strong message to all who get involved in such behaviour, that robust action will be taken and Warwickshire Police will seek every opportunity to ban those who cause trouble within our town centres.
“Town centre violence of any form is totally unacceptable. The vast majority of people want to go out and enjoy a safe night out with their friends in the town centre. Unfortunately, there are a few people who ruin the enjoyment of others by turning to violence - often after drinking too much alcohol.”
