Warwickshire villagers exchange views over HS2 compensation plan

VILLAGERS in south Warwickshire are demanding answers to questions they still have over the Government’s proposed HS2 compensation scheme.

Around 50 people from Stoneleigh, Ashow and Stareton attended a Stoneleigh Action Group Against HS2 meeting in Stoneleigh village hall this week to discuss their fears over how they will be affected by the new train line, which is set to open in 2026.

James Del Mar, rural communities manager for Knight Frank estate agents, told villagers that those who are concerned should take relevant and appropriate professional advice and that residents should not be expected to bear the cost of this advice alone, ahead of attempting to move house.

Those at the meeting were in agreement that it was important for everyone to respond individually to the consultation and describe their own situation.

The consultation ends on January 31. Anyone who would like to respond who has not yet done so can obtain a consultation response paper by calling 0300 123 1102 or by downloading one from the website: highspeedrail.dft.gov.uk/consultations/property-compensation-london-to-west-midlands
