Smoke could be seen from ten miles away after a major fire at a scrapyard near Ryton-on Dunsmore on Tuesday.
Fire engines from around Warwickshire and the West Midlands attended the blaze at White's Metals off the A45 after a 999 call at 4.08pm.
Crews found around 500 scrap vehicles burning, and worked to prevent nearby gas cyclinders from being affected by the heat.
The A45 was closed in both directions was closed in both directions for several hours, and part of the road had not been opened early on Christmas Eve.
The fire damaged workshops, offices and a waste oil container. There were no casualties, but staff were evacuated from the site and firefighters set up a 200m hazard zone.
Specialist ambulance crews from West Midlands Ambulance Service provided support.
The four acre site was estimated to contain around 2,000 vehicles. Fire crews were reported to be damping down the area at 9.30am on Wednesday.
