A man is in hospital with serious leg injuries after being hit by a car in a store’s car park in Market Harborough at the weekend.

The incident happened in the car park of Welland Valley Feeds and The Furniture Barn off Rockingham Road at about 3.30pm on Sunday.

The man, in his 50s, was pinned against the wall of the building by the car, eyewitnesses said.

The man was sedated at the scene, because he was suffering from severe lower limb injuries. He was then airlifted to hospital at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire at around 4pm.

The man remains in hospital with serious leg injuries, police said.

Eyewitnesses said the collision involved a maroon Volvo, which was later removed from the scene by truck. Fire police and ambulance services all attended the scene.

The impact caused damage to the building, which is owned by The Furniture Barn.
