Newburgh primary School pupils visit the stronghold of the ‘Kingmaker’

All 318 pupils at Newburgh Primary School were invited to attend a day of lessons at Warwick Castle to mark the town’s 1,100th year celebrations.

After being admitted free of charge the youngsters toured the ramparts and enjoyed watching the firing of the giant trebuchet catapult along with the archery and birds of prey demonstrations.

Headteacher Andrew Smith said: “Although the castle is on our doorstep, quite a few of our children had never visited it.”
