Health workers in south Warwickshire who have ‘gone the extra mile’ for the good of patients have been recognised with awards.
At its recent annual meeting, South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust’s chairman Russell Hardy and chief executive Glen Burley present ‘Going the Extra Mile’ (GEM) awards to staff who were nominated by their colleagues and members of the public.
Anne Fairley, staff nurse on Nicholas Ward at Warwick Hospital, won the clinical award for the support she gives to other nurses and student nurses and care she provides to patients. Ashley Howlett, volunteer coordinator at Leamington Spa Hospital, received the non-clinical award for transforming volunteering at the hospital and integrating it into the hospical structure. The winning team was Oken Ward (orthopaedics) at Warwick Hospital for their patient care.
Also at the meeting, the trust’s ‘Communications Champions’ were recognised. Chantelle Skett and Lisa-Jayne El Sour received an award for their involvement in the scheme, whereby information is shared in rural areas.
