Flags at half mast across Rugby following death of Prince Philip
Flags across Rugby are flying at half mast to mark the death of Prince Philip this morning, April 9.
Rugby mayor Cllr Bill Lewis issued a heartfelt tribute following the news, describing 'deep grief and sorrow' across the borough.

Hide AdAnd the Union flag at Rugby's town hall is now flying at half mast.
Rugby rangers then stripped all flags from outside Rugby School, replacing them with a row of Union flags at half mast.

Earlier today Rugby mayor Cllr Lewis said: "On behalf of the residents of our Borough I would like to express our deep grief and sorrow on hearing the news that His Royal Highness Prince Philip has died.
"As a borough and as a nation, we must draw together.

Hide Ad"In neighbourhoods and across communities in Rugby and in the surrounding villages we pause and reflect on Prince Philip's life and the circumstances of his death.
"As Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs, Jews, people of other faiths or of no faith, our prayers and our thoughts are with Her Majesty the Queen and the Royal Family.
"At this moment, I call on all of our residents to keep their own family and friends at the front of their minds, to tell them that you love them, and most of all, to be kind."
Warwickshire Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Seccombe also issued his own tribute.

Hide AdHe said: “Today’s news of the death of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh is very sad and marks the end of a chapter of British public life.
“The Duke of Edinburgh was a much-respected figure who throughout his long life dedicated himself to the service of the Queen and made a significant contribution to the life of this country.
“I offer my deepest condolences to Her Majesty the Queen and the whole of the Royal Family. My thoughts are with them at this difficult time.”
