Fundraisers have hailed it a record breaking year after up to 3,000 people packed out Abbey Fields for the annual festive duck race.

Kenilworth Lions Club hosts the fundraising race every Boxing Day to bring in thousands of pounds for charity.

And with up over 6,000 tickets sold and families enjoying the good weather and excitement at Finham Brook this time around, organisers said it maybe have been ‘somewhat of a record breaker’.

Tim Lee from the charity thanked everyone for supporting the event which is expected to have brought in thousands of pounds for town charities and the Philippine emergency fund appeal.

“We sold over 6,000 tickets which is incredible,” he said.

“It was the perfect day for it and thank you to everyone for coming to take part.”

Prizes of £100 went to ticket holders of duck no. 1170; £75 to duck no. 850; £50 to duck no. 1442 and £25 to no. 712.
