MEMBERS of Leamington Horticultural Society celebrated St George’s Day on Monday by handing out red roses.
They set up a stall outside Leamington town hall and gave 100 of the flowers to lucky ladies who passed by.
Ron Walton, treasurer, said: “The gesture was well received and it made our day when one lady returned to say that we had made a lot of ladies very happy, who were carrying their roses with pride with a happy smile on their faces.
“As it was such a success we may well decide to make it an annual event.”
The society holds monthly meetings at the town hall which feature various speakers.
Its next meeting, at which Duncan Coombes will give a talk entitled Lillies for your Garden, takes place on Wednesday May 23 from 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
Membership costs £10 per person.
