The new supermarket was due to officially open yesterday, but the 21-strong group were shown around by construction manager, Daniel Jordan and Ivor Goodsite the Considerate Constructor Scheme’s mascot.

Sarah Aston, the Cub Scout Leader said: “All the boys and girls really enjoyed looking behind the scenes at the Sainsbury’s Wellesbourne site.

“They were fascinated by some of the accessibility features in the store and will definitely be pointing these out to their families and friends during future shopping trips.”

Their tour focused on features making the store more accessible for customers and colleagues with disabilities, which allowed them to achieve a Disability Awareness Activity Badge.

Tom Kirby, Sainsbury’s Project Manager who has been overseeing the construction and fit out of the store said: “Making sure our stores are accessible for all customers is key.

“We’re pleased the Scout Group found the trip so interesting and we look forward to welcoming them back to the store in future.”
