The group, which regularly organises events and collections to support a wide range of charitable causes, has presented £3,000 each to the Teenage Cancer Trust and the Birmingham-based Acorns Children’s Hospice and £1,000 for the Coventry-based Zoe’s Place hospice for babies and children under five.

Lions spokesman Peter Guy said: “Southam Lions have a continuing interest in the fantastic work that Zoe’s Place undertake with ‘end of life’ illnesses affecting babies and the understanding and comfort afforded to the families concerned.

“Constant fundraising is a must for all such institutions and Zoe’s Place is no exception.”

The group has therefore decided to donate proceeds from its forthcoming race night, at the Graham Adams Centre in Southam on Saturday April 12, as well as its annual Southam Triathlon in the summer, to Zoe’s Place.
