Talented horse rider from Leamington school is an international star

In April, Kingsley School year nine pupil Megan Barratt was selected to take part in the Keysoe International dressage competition. She finished in fourth place in the team and individual tests and second in the music event.

Megan then finished fifth out of 24 starters from all over Europe in an event in May and was selected to ride for Great Britain at the PSI Future Heroes competition in Hagen, Germany, in June. The event, one of the biggest outside of the European championships, was the selection competition for German pony riders, who are among the very best in Europe.

Megan’s GB team came fifth in the team competition - and Megan won in the consolation music competition.

Megan said she learnt a huge amount performing at a very high level.

Her next competition is at Hartpury tomorrow (Saturday July 9), with more international events lined up before Christmas.

Future Champions is the largest young rider festival in the world, attracting 650 participants from 26 different countries.
