Update: Man remains in critical condition after assault in Warwick

A man who suffered serious head injuries during an assault in Warwick on Monday afternoon remains in a critical condition in hospital.

The incident happened at about 3.30pm in Humphris Street where, it is believed, the 31- year-old man was knocked to the floor following an argument with another male.

The victim was taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire with suspected fractures to the skull, bruising and a bleed on the brain and is now in the critical care unit.

A 41-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and has now been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Detectives investigating the incident would like to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of Humphris Street on Monday afternoon or may have information which would help them with their enquiries.

A number of witnesses have come forward following an appeal, but detectives investigating the incident would still like to hear from anyone else who has information.

Det Ins Liam Barry said: “I am very grateful to those people who have come forward to give us information, which has been very helpful. I know that there are more people out there who were in the area at the time of the incident and I urge them to come forward.”
