Among those to have worked on the scheme is 21-year-old Josh Lawrence, who has completed his level three brickwork apprenticeship and a BTEC in construction and the built environment with G F Tomlinson. He said: “Doing my apprenticeship through the academy has given me great confidence and I enjoy getting to speak to different people and learning the ins and outs of the industry on site.”

Head of empa Alan Coole said: “We run a shared apprenticeship programme across construction sites and our contractors have shown amazing commitment to the future generation in offering these opportunities. We are looking forward to seeing more talented young people like Josh reach their full potential and secure permanent employment.”
