Hundreds of golden daffodils planted by a Warwick pensioner are again brightening up a stretch of a footpath on a riverside walk.

Each October for the past four years, Ken Nielsen, 80, has planted the daffodils along the 200-yard stretch of the River Walk between Princes Drive and the Grand Union Canal.

Mr Nielsen, of Leam Road, says he plants the bulbs in memory of people who have had a positive influence on his life.

Originally from Ayrshire in Scotland, Mr Nielsen moved to the Warwick area in 1968 and worked at the National Agricultural Centre in Stoneleigh as a trainer of managers, farmers and workers in the agricultural industry for 20 years.

He previously lived in Oakwood Grove where daffodils he planted there can still be seen from the spring time.
