A scout group in Warwick got together to help clean rubbish from the River Avon at the weekend.

On Sunday the 2nd Warwick Sea Scouts spent the day cleaning up their local stretch of the River Avon and St Nicholas Park.

The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts all turned up to help.

Some children scoured the river banks with gloves and bin bags in hand, clearing as much rubbish as they could find. While other children and adults did a litter pick around St Nicholas Park.

Some also took to boats, to try and retrieve what they could from along the edge of the river.

The scout leaders also took the opportunity to test all their buoyancy aids were safe to use in the upcoming boating season, which starts in the coming weeks.

Once the season starts, youngsters will be out on the river most nights of the week learning water based skills.

By the end of the day the Sea Scouts had a pile of bin bags and a bike, which they pulled out of the river.
