Wellesbourne children learn about their village’s past

‘Mystery objects’ whose purpose remains unknown were among the artefacts examined by pupils from Wellesbourne Primary School on their visit to the village’s restored wheelright’s workshop Chedham’s Yard.

The children also built mini carts and tested different shapes of wheels to see which worked best. Year 3 teacher Caroline Cooke said: “It was a wonderful afternoon for our children. They were fascinated to hear all about the wheels and farm equipment that Chedham’s Yard used to manufacture and they really enjoyed handling the tools.”

The site is reopening for public visits next Saturday (April 12). Visits can be booked on Saturdays between 10am and 2pm. www.chedhamsyard.org.uk
