A driver has been arrested after a motorcyclist was killed in a road accident near Southam on Monday morning.
The 37-year-old Daventry man died when his blue Suzuki motorcycle was in collision with a car in Welsh Road East at 8.15am.

The motorbike had been travelling south east towards Priors Marston when it was in collision with the blue BMW 318 travelling towards Southam near Lion House.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called, as well as the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance.

The motorcyclist was confirmed dead at the scene.

The 41-year-old driver of the BMW has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

A six-year-old girl and a man travelling in the BMW were injured during the collision. Both were taken to St Cross Hospital in Rugby by a passer-by and later transferred to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.

The girl's injuries are described as minor and are not thought to be life threatening.

An 18-year-old man from the car with a possible shoulder injury was also checked at the scene by ambulance crews.

Any witnesses to the collision or anyone with information on how the BMW or the Suzuki motorbike were being driven before the accident should contact Pc Scott Caswell on 415415.
