A Southbank Road resident in Kenilworth says she is fed up with people blocking the driveway to her home with their cars.
The resident, who did not wish to be named, has lashed out at working people and shoppers who regularly park their cars for most or the whole of the day outside her house.

She says she doesn’t have a major issue with people just parking on the str
eet as a whole but when they show ‘no consideration’ for the white lines painted in front of the drives it becomes a different story.

She said: “I would just like to remind motorists that they do not park on the road by right.

“They should only park if there is an adequate space as defined by the white lines protecting people’s drives.

“These lines are slightly wider than the drives for reasons which should be very obvious.”

Southbank Road does not have pay meters and now with the closure of Talisman car park the parking problems in the area have been propelled.

The resident stressed: “Local residents need to turn out of and into their drives without damaging their own or other cars.

“They also need good visibility when leaving their drives and badly parked cars - of which there are too many - do not allow for this.”

Car parking meters on other streets in Kenilworth have been activated as part of new district-wide ‘decrimilisation’ parking regulations, which came into effect on August 6 this year.

Many roads in Kenilworth have been fitted with the pay meters but Southbank Road still remains free .

The resident hopes that people will respect the white lines painted in front of driveways.
