Bringing old friends back together is the aim of a former Warwick pupil organising a school reunion.
It has been more than 40 years since he studied at Aylesford High School but Surinder Johal is hoping to reunite former classmates with an event at the Shelley Avenue site on July 15.

Mr Johal was 11 when he started at the school in 1963 and has fond memories of his time there.

He said: "They were some of the happiest years of my life.

"It was just great. You never forget your school friends."

Mr Johal studied there for five years and now works as a delivery driver in Leamington and Kenilworth.

He was inspired to start searching for former classmates after delivering a package to the school last year.

He said: "It was the first time I had set foot in there for 41 years.

"I told the receptionist that I used to be here and current headteacher Steve Hall overheard.

"He asked if I had enjoyed my time at school and suggested having a reunion."

Aylesford was previously located at the current Clapham Terrace Primary School and behind the former library in Avenue Road and Mr Johal was among the first pupils to attend the new site in Warwick.

The 57-year-old is hoping for around 100 pupils to attend the event which will start at 7pm.

Mr Johal, who is married with three grown-up children, will be paying for food and refreshments.

He has already contacted a number of classmates after finding an original register containing pupils' addresses.

His former classmate Debra Cliffton has also helped Mr Johal arrange the event.

He added: "It will be fabulous. We will be able to have a look around the school and see how it has changed.

"We will also have the chance to sit down and chat about what has happened in our lives as some of us haven't seen each other for more than 40 years."

Anyone interested in attending the reunion can call Mr Johal on 07793 082909 or Ms Cliffton on 332907.
