Organisers of Warwick's Thai festival believe the event has put the town "on the cultural map" of the UK.
Crowds stretched across Market Place for Warwick Rotary Club’s third annual Thai festival on Sunday to see displays of Thai dancing, sword fighting and boxing as well as a drum parade and a visit from the Thai ambassador.

Organisers believe up to 5,000 people may have attended the festival, and hope it will raise up to £5,000 to be given to good causes in Warwick and Thailand.

Rotary club president Alan Bailey believes the festival brings a new dimension to the town.

He said: “We have Warwick with all its historic aspects but the town has now become a distribution centre for Thai and oriental goods.

“We are putting Warwick on the map in terms of cultural events. In some ways it reflects what’s happened in the world. We’ve gone from being part of the European Common Market and are now part of the global village.”
