Sean Hughes, Spa Centre, Saturday October 13
The epitome of my student existence during the 90s was well and truly resurrected on Saturday night when Sean Hughes came back into my life.

After Sean’s Show on BBC2, years as a team captain on Never Mind the Buzzcocks and countless books and TV appearances, in one very popular soap in particular, the far too under-rated funny man is back with a new stand up routine entitled The Right Side of Wrong.

As you might imagine, the show features several references about Coronation Street and his bit part as Pat the love rat salesman plus his death defying escape from the tsunami and subject matter a lot of comedians might steer clear of such as disability, especially dyslexia, the Pope and sex.

As any good comedic routine favours, local references were in abundance, the front page of the Leamington Courier (Riot Police Sent to Tackle Smoker, October 12) provided enough material to start off the show, warrant another mention in the middle and help close the show at the end.

Definitely worth missing the rugby for.
