You were never there
But I felt your presence
My body raged with hormones inexperienced
Sickness visible
Weight gain heavy.
You were never there
Now cot sits mocking me in the room
No longer a nursery
Bright walls hastily painted beige,
Non descript, empty.
You were never there
Now tiny clothes are packed in sepia coloured boxes
Cards hastily swept into draws.
You were never there
I'm told it happens sometimes
This phantom pregnancy
The barren scan mocking my emotions
But you were there to me.
