CLUB NEWS: Southam Sports and Social Club's en
tertainment for tomorrow (Saturday) features Tony Christopher, male volcaist, entertainment is free to members, guests and visitors 50p signing in charge. The club is in School Street and welcomes potential new members.
SOUTHAM LIBRARY: Remember Baby Bounce and Rhyme on the first Friday of each month at 2.15pm. For slightly older pre-school children there is Wiggle and Jiggle, an interactive storytime with songs, games and rhymes which will run on the third Thursday of each month at 2.15pm. These and other child centred promotions are supported by Bookstart.
SOUTHAM AND DISTRICT LIONS: A secondhand furniture sale will take place at the rear of Southam Co-op on the second Saturday of each month at 9am. The Lions welcome any donations of saleable furniture. If you have any donations please ring Robert on 811991 (any weekday evening between 6pm and 7pm).
SOUTHAM MOP: Southam and District Lions Club is once again organising the annual Mop day hog roast on Monday, October 15 to be held on the Olde Mint car park in Wood Street. Over the years this event has raised thousands of pounds, all of which has been distributed locally. Setting up early in the day, the hog will be roasted and then carved in the early evening by the Mayor of Southam, Coun Les Hewer. To accompany the hog roast the Lions will run an associated raffle with prizes donated by local organisations, businesses and individuals which will be drawn at 7.30pm. There will also be a tombola stall running throughout the day. Go along, there will be something for everyone.
CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH: This Sunday, October 14, the morning service at 10.30am in the church in Wood Street, will be led by Rev Wayne Hawkins. There will also be junior church and a creche. There will be light refreshments and an opportunity for a chat after the morning service. The evening service will be at Wattons Lodge at 6.30pm and will be led by Jenny and Roy Buchanan.
The coffee pot is open every Tuesday morning at the Congregational church, Wood Street from 10am to noon. You are very welcome to drop in for a cuppa and a chat.
The luncheon club meets in the church lounge on Fridays at 12.30pm. Members can enjoy a two course meal, plus tea or coffee for £2.50.

Paint Pot meets in the Congregational church on the first Wednesday of each month fro 10.30am. Paint Pot is a midweek service for toddlers and their parents or carers to which all are welcome. HEALTHY LIVING: A new class has just started on Monday evenings at Southam Primary School and Tuesday mornings at the Graham Adams Centre. These classes are suitable for all ages and abilities and promote healthy eating and gentle exercise in a fun and friendly environment. SOUTHAM IN BLOOM: The annual awards presentation evening will take place on Tuesday, October 23 at Galanos House at 8pm when the Mayor will present the awards to all those placed in the competition. Please come along and enjoy a cup of tea and an hour of friendship, if not a little rivalry.

HENRY'S MUSIC CLUB: Tickets are now on sale to see The Hamsters perform live at Henrys Music Club based at the Stoneythorpe Hotel, on Saturday, November 10 at 7.30pm until late. Tickets £12, book now to avoid disappointment. This guitar, bass and drums trio have been long established as a premier blues-rock attraction.
SONG AND STORY TIME: This will now be on the second Friday every month at 10.30am in St James church. It is organised by Mothers Union for all children under school age, take your mums, grannies, grandpas and minders for a coffee and chat while you have a story.
DARBY AND JOAN: The club are organising another autumn fest outside the library tomorrow (Saturday). Please go along and support this community event, there is something for everyone and plenty of tea and coffee.
ROTARY TREE OF LIGHT: The Rotary Club of Southam would like to thank everyone for the excellent support received last year with the Tree of Light. Through the tree and other means the club have now raised over five thousand pounds for Acorns. They and the club are delighted by this but the work goes on because it is so vital to provide care, comfort and help to these children and their families. The tree will again shine out this Christmas and New Year in Southam and through it the love and memories of those who sponsor a light. The Book of Remembrance will again be on display at Southam Library. The library staff has been most helpful to our cause. The use of the tree on land owned by Goodwins (with power supplied by Southam Carpets) is also much appreciated. For people who wish to record the memory of a person they still love and miss at this time of year there will be leaflets with donation slips available in Southam and most of the surrounding villages from November onwards. If anyone has a difficulty in this respect or would like more information please ring 864234 (Peter Jackson). A final word of thanks to all who helped to distribute our leaflet last year.
SOUTHAM RAMBLERS CLUB: The next midweek walk will be on Wednesday, October 17 starting at Wood Street car park at 9.30am. The walk around five miles in the Culworth area.
STREET COLLECTION: The hardworking Southam Christmas Lights committee will be in town on the morning of October 27 with a street collection to help raise funds for the Christmas display.

Charities represented: Leukaemia Research, Save the Children, W A Blind, Myton Hospice, Parkinsons Society, Traidcraft and Fairtrade. Tea, coffee, mince pies and cakes will be sold in aid of Hearing Dogs for the Deaf. Everybody welcome.
SCAN MEETING: The Senior Citizens Action Network (SCAN - Southam and District) will meet at the clinic in Pendicke Street at 10.30am on Thursday, October 18 for coffee and biscuits followed at 10.45am by a talk from a senior care officer on the subject of care and protection for vulnerable adults. If you are over 50 and want to know m ore about the enjoyment of life then please go along for a pleasant, relaxed and informative hour or so.
