Southam College pupils have won equipment which will help the school in its lessons to teach first aid.
The 238 youngsters from year seven received a resuscitation dummy which came with lesson plans and a DVD to help them learn ways of helping people in an emergency.

The prize was presented to them last week by the British Red Cross and it was awarded to the pupils for their participation in the charity's world first aid day last summer.

This involved them handing out literature for and raising awareness of first aid and personal safety.

Lynda Errol, head of year seven at the college, said: "Our ethos is to raise the childen's spiritual, moral and cultural awareness and for them to support the world around them.

"Sian from the Red Cross said that my students were very very enthusiastic and very keen.

"I have been pleased with my year sevens and this has been a good opportunity for them. "

The first aid resource will now be used by all pupils at the college and will benefit its sixth form students who are taught first aid in their PE lessons.
