GRANGE HALL: On Saturday, November 10 there will be a Last Night of the Proms style charity concert at 7.30pm in aid of Galanos House. The AD Concert Band promise a rousing patriotic night. Tickets £7.50 adults, £6.50 concessions.

CLUB NEWS: Southam Sports and Social Club's entertainment for tomorrow (Saturday) features Linc Duo. Entertainment is free to members, guests and visitors 50p signing in charge. The club is i
n School Street and welcomes potential new members.


SOUTHAM LIBRARY: Remember Baby Bounce and Rhyme on the first Friday of each month at 2.15pm. For slightly older pre-school children there is Wiggle and Jiggle, an interactive storytime with songs, games and rhymes which will run on the third Thursday of each month at 2.15pm. These and other child centred promotions are supported by Bookstart.


SOUTHAM AND DISTRICT LIONS: A secondhand furniture sale will take place at the rear of Southam Co-op on the second Saturday of each month at 9am. The Lions welcome any donations of saleable furniture. If you have any donations please ring Robert on 811991 (any weekday evening between 6pm and 7pm).


TURNER FESTIVAL: The John Turner Festival of Arts is taking place tomorrow (Saturday) at Southam College from 10am to 5pm. The festival commemorates John Turner, former Mayor of Southam and Chairman of Governors of Southam School. it is held annually to raise funds for prizes for speech day at Southam College (formerly Southam School) and is organised by a group including John's widow Ann, members of Southam and District Lions Club and with the help of staff and the School Association of Southam College.


There will be demonstrations and exhibitions of arts, crafts and hobbies covering a wide variety of traditional and maybe unexpected topics for you to see and experience. There will be many items for sale - start your Christmas shopping now. As in previous years, there will be an exhibtiion of work from local primary schools which is always impressive and showcases emerging talent. Hope to see you there.


JINGLE BELLS: The sound of Santa's sleigh is still very distant but he is definitely is coming. Southam Lions will again be visiting the town and surrounding villages in the days leading up to Christmas and once again all the money so generously donated will be given to local children's charities. Every child, no matter what age, when talking to Santa will get a chocolate bar. Last year a young man of 70 came out to see Santa. The fun begins with the switch on of the Southam Christmas lights on Monday, December 3 from 5pm onwards (actual switch on 6pm). The first of Santa's visits will be to Southam East on December 8 in the afternoon. Details of all Santa's visits will be in the Courier each Friday.


CHARITY BALL: The Mayor's Charity Ball is tomorrow (Saturday) in aid of Warwickshire and Northamptonshire AIr Ambulance. Guests will be entertained by Three Men in a Boat, tickets still available from 01926 812365.


CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH: This Sunday, November 4, the morning service at 10.30am in the church in Wood Street, will be led by Mr Mike Hoyland.
