Goals from James Urquhart and Greg Sherrington brought the Major Boyd Carpenter Cup back to the Leamington area for the first time in 30 years.
The Coventry Alliance men saw off their higher-division opponents with a convincing display at Hawkes Mill Sports ground in Allesley last Friday.

Whitnash completely dominated the opening 45 minutes with Dean O'Loughlin, captain Scott Burden and Piruu Dumitru-Daniel leading by example at the back. They took the lead after half an hour when Billy Haggarty broke and the speedy Urquhart scored from 20 yards out.

Nash continued to boss the game, with Kev McGarvey, Andy McKinley running the show in midfield with the support of Smith and Urquhart down the flanks. Keeper Neil Clarke didn't have a shot to save.

Colliery came out fighting and had most of the play in the opening 15 minutes. In time Whitnash started to create openings with old boy Brian Agar and warhorse Haggarty to the fore.

Haggarty combined in a flowing move with Danny Walden, setting up substitute Sherrington to smash home into the unguarded net.

Potterton were the last club from the Leamington area to lift the cup. Whitnash player-manager Daz Bradley, Billy Haggarty, Neil Clarke and Robbie Harris (player/chairman) all played in the last match at the old sports field after giving years of service to the disbanded club.
