Leamington reached the Southern League play-off final with a Guy Sanders goal at a sodden New Windmill.
The influential centre-back crashed the ball into the net five minutes into the second half to book his side a final against Stourbridge at home on Saturday.
Defences ruled in a tight first half, although Rushall came closest to breaking the deadlock when Neil Barnfield shot just wide from a tight angle. Sanders put a decent free-kick beyond the post.
It was Sanders who made all the difference in the end. As well as starring in defence he lashed the ball past Rushall keeper Tony Breeden when the visitors failed to clear a Jamie Towers corner.
Richard Morris, captain in the absence of the unwell Arron Parkinson, produced a couple of fine saves as Rushall fought for an equaliser in the slippery conditions.
Opposite number Breedon joined the attack in the closing stages, but Brakes held out.
Brakes: Richard Morris (capt], Jamie Towers, Martin Hier, Adam Cooper, Guy Sanders, Marcus Jackson, Scott Hadland, James Husband, Justin Marsden, Ben Mackey, Ryan Parisi. Subs not used: Liam Reynolds, Shay Morgan, Josh Blake, Martin Thompson, Andy Harper. Att: 783.
