Leamington did everything they could to take the Southern League Division One Midlands title race to the wire on Saturday.
Second-half goals from Ben Mackey and Scott Hadland made Jason Cadden's side uncatchable in second place, but Evesham United took the title with a 7-0 drubbing of Woodford.
Brakes will be at home in the play-off semi-finals on Tuesday April 29 against the team that finishes fifth - probably either Sutton Coldfield or Rushall.
There was little between the sides in the first half at the New Windmill. Ryan Parisi could have given Brakes the lead on 13 minutes, but shot over the bar after good work by Ben Mackey and on-loan Justin Marsden.
Richard Morris did well to twice deny Aylesbury's Kevin Mealor, first with a finger-tip save and then by getting down well.
The Ducks had a couple of chances at the start of the second half, notably when Nathan Graham blasted over the bar.
The match came alive 17 minutes from time when Mackey beat the offside trap and fired the ball past Tom Vincent for his 21st league goal of the season.
Brakes almost doubled their lead after Morris sent a long kick down field and Mackey fed the ball out to Ryan Parisi who cut inside, only to see his goalbound shot tipped onto the bar by Vincent.
However, the Brakes pressure paid off and they got a second on 83 minutes. Vincent dropped the ball from a Marcus Jackson free-kick and Hadland was on hand to open his account for the club.
Cadden's side conclude their regular fixtures at relegated Berkhamsted Town on Saturday and then host the play-off on the following Tuesday.
Chairman David Hucker said: "It has been a long journey from the depths of despair when we left the Windmill ground in April 1988 to reaching the Southern League play-offs."
"Whatever the outcome at the end of the season, everyone who has been involved in the Brakes revlval can be proud of what we have achieved."
