Leamington host Solihull Moors tomorrow (Saturday) in good spirits after winning their first two games.
Brakes won 4-0 at Wellingborough Town on Tuesday night to follow last Saturday's encouraging 1-1 draw with Blue Square South Newport County.

Wellingborough, regular Southern League rivals of Brakes in the 1970s, have re-formed and play in the United Counties League.

Brakes gave them a lesson in how much ground they need to make up.
Jamie Towers had an early penalty saved by former Woodford keeper Matt Finlay following a push on Josh Blake.

The first goal came after half an hour when Shay Morgan headed in a Martin Hier cross.

Brakes rounded off a strong half with the goal of the game. Luke Corbett smacked a dipping volley into the far corner from just outside the box.

Liam Reynolds headed in a Towers cross for Brakes' third with an hour gone and the impressive Mark Bellingham, on for Blake at half-time, steered a flick-on from Glen Webb into the net with ten minutes left.

Brakes' opening friendly with Newport drew a crowd of 415 to the New Windmill on Saturday. They were treated to an entertaining contest, which Brakes deservedly levelled late on when Guy Sanders scored a header after good work by Blake and Luke Corbett.

Leamington's five newcomers - Mark Bellingham, Sean Brown, Luke Corbett, Steve Palmer and Jai Stanley - all had impressive games.

Leamington's pre-season programme continues at home to Solihull Moors on Saturday (July 26, 3pm) then away on Tuesday to Stratford Town (7.45pm).

Brakes have been drawn away to Division One Midlands rivals Chasetown in round one of the Southern League's GX Cup. The match will be played in the week commencing October 27.
