Racing Club Warwick have pulled well away from the Midland Alliance relegation zone.
They won 3-1 at Alvechurch on Easter Monday, having drawn 0-0 with leaders Atherstone Town at Townsend Meadow on Saturday.
Bobby Hancocks' men produced a classy display on a difficult Lye Meadow pitch on Monday to further pull away from the relega
tion zone and avenge a 6-1 defeat inflicted by Church at Townsend Meadow back iin September.
The visitors wasted no time in showing they were the better side and might have taken the lead through Ryan Howell in the first minute. That came to nothing though, as did further chances for Howell, fellow striker Matt Blair and captain Jay Holtom.
The forward duo combined to give racing a deserved lead eight minutes into the second half. Blair finished neatly in the bottom corner from Howell's penetrating through-ball.
Howell doubled the lead five minutes later with a spectacular overhead kick from a Jay Holtom corner.
Alvechurch gave themselves brief hope when Dajinder Bassi pulled a goal back 15 minutes from time.
It was a rare lapse by the impressive back four of Glenn Jones, Linton Bailey, Levi Bailey and Danny Hicks.
Ross Holtom restored the balance of power to its previous pattern with Racing's third goal, converting a cross from fellow substitute Neil Stacey on 87 minutes.
Windy conditions meant there was little quality football on display at Hampton Road on Saturday - not that Bobby Hancocks would have minded.
His side claimed a deserved point against Midland Alliance leaders Atherstone, whose efforts to keep second-placed Loughborough Dynamo at bay were hampered by Racing's battling qualities.
Lee Darlison had the best of the Adders' few chances in the swirling wind before the break, but he put Jai Stanley's corner over the bar.
Martin Hutchcox came closer at the other end but the Racing defender couldn't quite direct Jay Holtom's corner on target.
Matt Blair nipped in as the defence made a meal of a long clearance from Racing keeper Scott Handley, but Richard Williams saved bravely at his feet.
Clear-cut chances remained in short supply after the break. Blair and Gareth Plant both tried from distance, while Handley saved well from Luke Barlone.
The visitors' best chance came late on. Barlone hit the bar with the goal at his mercy after Handley had parried a Stanley shot into his path and a flllow-up effort from substitute Matt Brown was saved.
Atherstone had a late let-off too when Blair headed straight at the keeper from Plant's cross.
Next game: Oldbury United home, Saturday April 5 (3pm).
