Leamington boss Paul Holleran refused to blame first-half injuries to Marcus Jackson and Michael Tuohy for his side's 4-2 midweek defeat at Chippenham.
Holleran was forced to reshuffle after first Jackson and then Tuohy were unable to continue, with the Brakes right back picking up his injury in the build-up to the home side's opener.
However, despite admitting that on another day a foul may have
been given for the challenge on Tuohy, Holleran was in no mood to make excuses for Brakes' first loss in four games.
"I used two words to the players to sum up the performance: naive and weak," said Holleran.
"To concede in the 47th minute when we've got a free-kick in their half is disappointing.
"The bottom line is we conceded poor goals and didn't do the basics well. One or two of our players didn't fancy it and when the going got tough, one or two were waiting to hear the final whistle.
"It's the first time I've been really disappointed with the team. It's the first time we've been outfought since I got here. They didn't outplay us, they just put the ball into decent areas and we looked fragile. We didn't apply ourselves correctly and there was only going to be one winner."
The win moved Chippenham above Brakes in the table and tempered some of the optimism brought about by three successive wins, the last of which saw Brakes complete the double over Swindon Supermarine on Saturday.
However, with tomorrow's visit to Oxford City being followed by seven league games in February, Holleran says there is little time to dwell on the defeat.
"The games are coming thick and fast," he said. "Well get it out of our system and move on. Hopefully at Oxford, we'll see a reaction and get back to simplifying things and doing things properly."
Stuart Herlihy is expected to return to the Brakes squad tomorrow after missing the trip to Chippenham due to work commitments.
Holleran is hopeful the injuries to Jackson and Tuohy are nothing more than severe bruising, but both are still rated doubtful for the trip to Court Place Farm.
