Leamington capped a fine season by taking the league championship and gaining promotion to Midlands 2 West.
Following a display at Droitwich, befitting a side full of enterprise, manager Kit Forrest, coaches Alan Roberts and Alex Carroll and all the
squad and supporters celebrated this immense achievement back at Moorefields.

A big thank you was awarded to the team's physios Hannah Dudley and Meike Grimwade, who throughout this season have mended the broken
players.

When the celebrations subside the whole team can look back with pride
at creating another piece of history for the 83-year-old club.

Any underlying nerves the players may have had were kept under control, notwithstanding what was at stake and the game opened with some
exciting rugby from Leamington.

On ten minutes Spa's forwards won the ball from a scrum and number eight Steve Hersey picked up and sent a short pass to Northover, who
dummied his pass and raced over to score.

Soon after Alex Carroll created another opening using his vision and pace and set Tom Williams up for a run.

The centre raced up field, cut inside and found Peter Blunt in support.
With ball in hand, nobody was going to stop the robust Yorkshire man from putting Spa further ahead with a try.

Secher sent over the conversion and, at 12-0, Leamington were now in full control of the game.

In superb conditions for 'running rugby' Leamington's forwards were
out to show their handling skills and Ciaron Price and Mark Warrilow linked well to set up an attack.

The Centre partnership of Carroll and Williams always produces quality
rugby and they were on hand to create an opening for Price to go on
charge.

He found Simon Magill with a neat pass and the winger's strong run was
just forced into touch.

By this time Droitwich had exchanged penalty goals with Spa.

In the dying moments of the half, Droitwich conceded another penalty,
which Secher gratefully accepted.

Any thoughts that the home side were going to spoil Leamington's day
were now a distant memory.

Leamington had full control of the first half and started the second half in the same vain.

Steve Hersey and Northover exchanged passes near the Droitwich
posts and were unlucky not to increase the score.

Then Spa scored what was to be their final try of the season.

Once again Carroll set the ball rolling with a neat pass to Magill who
shipped on to his fellow wing, Danny Ruyssevelt who raced over in at the
corner.

Droitwich had not put on a poor display but they found Leamington
on top of their game in every department.

On the touch line, Alan Roberts had made sure his men gave 100 per
cent concentration to make sure they finished the season on a high.

On the opposite touchline, Danny Phillips, injured since the start of the year, kept up a relentless barrage of encouragement to his team mates, to further enhance the commitment in
the squad.

Secher concluded the days scoring with another well judged kick and the
visitors finished the game, as they had started it, in commanding form.
