Ben Mackey's early penalty helped Leamington to a Southern League point at in-form Leighton on Saturday.
The result should have surprised few people - it extended Brakes' unbeaten Division One Midlands run to ten games and took Leighton to 11 without defeat.
Mackey put the visitors in front after just six minutes, sending Nigel Maarman the wrong way from the spot after a long ball from Liam Reynolds was handled in the penalty area.
The dubious decision meant a bad start for the keeper, but not as bad as in the sides' meeting at the New Windmill in August, when he was dismissed in the first minute.
Leighton responded in kind five minutes later when another penalty was awarded - this one for an even less clear reason. Enzo Silvestri equalised with a shot past the stretching Richard Morris, wjho made two good saves as Leighton contined to press.
At the other end James Husband curled a shot just wide from Jamie Towers' cross, Stuart Herlihy directed a powerful header over the crossbar and Reynolds had a shot blocked.
There was less goamouth action in the second half. Too many Brakes passes were misplaced and the forward line had to feed off scraps.
Things improved for Brakes in the final 15 minutes. Mackey shot just wide after evading his marker and thought he had a second penalty for handball when he laid off a cross from substitute Craig Dutton, but the referee waved play on after hesitating.
Leighton had second-half chances too, althoug the draw was the fair result.
Leamington complete a sequence of four away games on Saturday with a trip to Aylesbury United, who play at Chesham (3pm).
