Racing Club Warwick's Midland Allliance season has ended with a three-point bonus.
It means they finish 18th in the table with a record of P42 W14 D8 L20 F63 A82 50pts - well clear of the relegation zone.

Bobby Hancocks' side were unsure whether they could put their feet up after a much-improved second half to their campaign, which ended with a narrow 3-2 defeat at second-placed Loughborough Dynamo on Saturday.

That was because last Thursday's match at struggling Oldbury United was postponed.

Alliance officials decided not to get the game played and awarded Racing the points for a nominal 2-0 win.

Racing looked good on Saturday at Dynamo, who went into the match with a chance of beating leaders Atherstone to the title. That seemed a remote possibility by time Racing were two goals up.

Ryan Howell opened the scoring mid-way through the first half, with a crisp left-footed shot into the bottom corner of the net. Both sides missed chances after that.

Matt Blair further upset Dynamo by doubling Racing's lead inside the first minute of the second half, getting between two defenders and beating the keeper.

The visitors enjoyed a good spell of pressure after that and could have further extended their lead. Loughborough held on however and pulled one back against the run of play with the aid of a deflection.

An equaliser followed as they started to get a grip on proceedings and top-scorer Kris Nurse grabbed the winner ten minutes from time with a quality finish into the top corner.

Calum Ross and Andy Tidy got the other goals for Dynamo.

In the end Loughborough's win wasn't enough as Atherstone Town won 2-0 at Shifnal to secure the Alliance title by a single point.

Hancocks said: "We played very well and we deserved something from the game. I've been very pleased with the last three months or so - we've played some good football."

Racing's impressive run, which included an unbeaten eight-game run, means they can look forward to the 2008-09 campaign with confidence.

"We've had players asking to come here," said Hancocks.

"If we can get off to a good start next season I think we could be a top six side. I just hope we can hang on to all the players we've got here, because there are some talented lads in the squad."
