In-form Poole Dashes to victory

Runners set off in the Leamington parkrun.

A week after clocking a superb 1:27:30 to finish 12th lady at the Vienna City Half Marathon, Kenilworth Runners’ Nardia Poole won the Moreton Morrell Mad Dash 10k.

Finishing an impressive eighth overall, Poole completed the challenging course in a new personal best of 40:45.

Mark Urbanowski led Spa Striders home, taking fifth place in 38:02.

He was followed by Barbara Gunter (49:56), Patrick Recker (53:04) and Catherine Shephard (58:56).In the two-lap 20k race, Rod Goodwin prepared for Sunday’s Shakespeare Half Marathon by venturing a mile from home to run an evenly paced race, finishing in 1:38:33.

Kenilworth team-mate Neil Smith, meanwhile, finished in 1:36:41.

The Raceways event raised more than £1,000 for the Kids Run Free charity.

Kids Fun Run: Five laps: 1, Thomas Dixon. Four laps: 1, Lucy Byerly. Three laps: 1, Anna Puzey. Two laps: 1, Theo Kennedy. One lap: Matthew Short.

Simon Wurr won the 53rd Leamington parkrun (pictured) in an impressive 17:02.

Leamington C&AC’s Susie Tawney (21:09) was the leading lady.

Organisers are hoping for a record turnout tomorrow when the Newbold Comyn free-to-enter 5k celebrates its first birthday.
