England number one Sibley digs deep to claim Grand Prix success

However, Sibley needed to be at her best to overcome opponents she frequently trains with at the University of Nottingham.

Sibley dropped a set to Tressa Armitage, was pushed all the way by Yoland King in the last four and found herself 9-2 down to Emma Vickers in the final before recovering to win 13-11, 11-3, 11-3.

She said: “I knew I would have to play well because the girls have been playing well.

“I’ve been coaching and training with the girls a lot which has allowed me to do a bit of scouting, but they all made me work hard to get the victory.

“Ultimately I’m happy to come through it and win the event.”
