Leamington line up move for former Sky Blue

The 21-year-old striker progressed through the youth ranks at Coventry City before going on to join Scunthorpe United where he remained until the end of the 2011/12 season.

He scored five times in 25 appearance for Hinckley United before walking out in a dispute over unpaid wages and made the switch to Damson Park in the summer.

However, he has been predominantly used from the bench this season and Holleran believes a switch to the New Windmill will be in the best interest of both parties.

“He’s a local boy who lives ten minutes from the ground and he’s someone we’ve looked at before,” said Holleran.

“He’s scored goals in this division, has a good pedigree and wants to come to the club, which is important.”

There is still work to be done on the deal, with Moors boss Marcus Bignot making a last-ditch attempt to persuade the striker to stay.

However, Holleran is hopeful the signing will go through in time for Wint to feature at Guiseley tomorrow.

The postponement of last Saturday’s home clash with Vauxhall Motors has also allowed Joe Magunda and Craig Owen extended rehabilitation time ahead of what promises to be a hectic end to Brakes’ first taste of Conference North football.

After tomorrow’s trip to Guiseley, eight of Leamington’s final 12 fixtures are at the New Windmill and although relegation is still a possibility, Holleran is looking up rather than down.

“A couple of wins and we’ll be right back in the middle of the table,” he said.

“That’s got to be our aim for the last third of the season.

“We really want to finish as high as possible and cement ourselves in mid-table.”

A victory at Guiseley tomor-row will see Brakes climb above their hosts, whose play-off hopes have nosedived following three successive defeats.

And, after an impressive 2012/13 campaign, Holleran admits the West Yorkshire club’s struggles have come as something of a surprise.

“It’s another difficult one tomorrow.

“After their runners-up spot last year, I expected them to go on and win the league this season.

“But they’ve given themselves too much to do and we’ll go there looking to get something out of the game.”
