The match had finished with the scores level at 2-2 after extra-time. In the penalty shoot-out Stockton keeper Mark Rowland was the hero making two saves. He was only playing because their normal goalkeeper is away on holiday.

Kenilworth were two up inside 15 minutes with Shaun Sproul on the mark.

But that forced Stockton into life and Josh Tolly reduced the arrears 10 minutes before the break.

The second half was slow to get going until Liam Jones cut in from the left and flashed a shot just wide, leaving the Kenilworth keeper rooted to the spot.

It looked like it would be Kenilworth’s day until the ball was fed through to James Dixon who won the race for the ball which fell to James Moreton to fire home with only three minutes left.

Extra-time saw no change to the score as neither side created clear-cut chances.

So the game went to penalties where Stockton’s captain Jamie Bodfish sealed the win after two smart saves from Rowland in goal.
