Trinity clash given extra significance by Holleran

Brakes boss Paul Holleran has stopped short of calling tomorrow’s home clash with Gainsborough a must-win.

However, he is under no illusions as to how important the match against their fellow relegation strugglers is as Leamington look to build on their recent momentum.

Four points from their last two games, including a 1-1 draw at Harrogate Town last Saturday have lifted Brakes out of the bottom three.

But with just two points between them and the drop zone and a trip to Conference North leaders Barrow next up, Holleran knows his side have to take advantage of their home fixtures.

Gainsborough are obviously a side in a similar position to us and it makes the game massively important - a six-pointer,” said Holleran.

“We need to carry on our good showings at home. We’ve been solid, had lots of energy and created chances and we need to keep that going.

“We’ve got a little run going with the last couple of results and performances and that has lifted spirits.

“If we’re looking to pull away from the bottom it’s a game we can’t lose, though we’ll be going all out to win it.”

Brakes are expected to be unchanged from the 1-1 draw with Harrogate, which saw them arrest a run of seven successive away defeats.

“We feel we can win games at home but we know we’ve got to start picking up points away from home,” he said.

“It was a bit disappointing to concede right on half-time.

“But we showed great character to get back into the game.

“Not getting beaten breeds confidence.”
