HOCKEY SLIDESHOW: Men's 1st XI v Sutton Coldfield
Rugby & East Warwickshire Hockey Club
REWHC Men’s 1st XI 3
The Men’s 1s got back on track with a win against Sutton Coldfield at Hart Field on Saturday.
Within the first couple of minutes it was clear that it would be a very physical game. Dan Harris scored against his former club, and Rugby stayed strong until the break at 1-0.

Hide AdIn the second half Sutton Coldfield scored from a short corner but that did not deter Rugby and they went 2-1 up from another trademark Szymon Oszyjczyk drag flick.
With the game intensifying a few cards were shown, but the home side stayed strong though and nearer the end of the game Szymon scored his second.
And with only two minutes left to play on the clock after the third goal, Sutton had no way of getting anything out of game.
Man of the Match this week went to Stuart Jones.

Hide AdNicki Siarbawa capitalised on a poorly cleared ball from the keeper, putting the Rugby & East Warwickshire side 1-0 up within the first five minutes.
Not long after, Sarah Naylor’s skilful interception was threaded through to Laura Harris, who passed to Charlie Wooliscroft for her to reverse- stick-sweep it perfectly to deflect off the defender’s foot past the stranded keeper for 2-0 to Rugby.
Rugby’s defence had to withstand more than ten short corners in quick succession. Emma Olifant played well in goal and kept out all but one of Lichfield’s attacks, making the score 2-1.
Resolute efforts came from both Planty and B in defence, saving multiple shots on the goal line.
