Lillington Free Church’s Nikit Sajiv followed the previous week’s final appearance at Grantham by going one better at the Burton-Uxbridge 1-star tournament.

He won his under-13 group before bowing out to Harry Stevens of Nottinghamshire in the quarter-final.

However, in the under-11 event he was unstoppable, winning all four matches.

He enjoyed straight-sets victories against Adam Szabo and Lewis Ellam (both South Yorkshire) and Angus Rogers and then defeated Luke Nimmo of Lincolnshire 3-1 to take the title.

Meanwhile, Olivia Fletcher and Milly Bradshaw, representing Leamington, had to be content with fifth place at the Bromfield Trophy Finals at Westfield Table Tennis Club.

First up were a Hull side containing recently crowned national under-12 and under-13 champion Jasmin Wong.

It proved a tough baptism for the Leamington duo who went down 5-0.

It did not get any easier in the second game, with Crawley & Horsham comprising England’s number two cadet Kate Cheer and junior number 23 Holly Holder.

Bradshaw lost 11-8, 11-6, 11-8 to Cheer but Fletcher claimed a major scalp with an 11-9, 5-11, 7-11, 11-8, 11-8 success over Holder who is ranked 40 places above her.

The girls then lost the doubles in the fifth set before defeats in the reverse singles condemned them to a 4-1 defeat.

The cross-over match for fifth place saw Leamington taking on Darlington.

Fletcher beat Georgina Peart in four and a 11-5, 13-11, 12-10 victory for Bradshaw over Katie Wray put Leamington 2-0 up.

A 3-1 defeat in the doubles to Erin Greensmith and Katie Peacock put the clash back in the melting pot but fifth place was confirmed when Fletcher beat Wray 3-0 and Bradshaw overcame Peart by the same scoreline.

Derby (Amy Humphreys and Diana Rusnova) beat Hull in the final to retain their title.
