Colebridge A defeated St George’s A 8-2 in Division One of the Leamington & District League thanks to a treble from Ben Willson and doubles from Kate Hughes and Nav Matharu.

Colebridge then beat Wellesbourne by the same score, with Willson (3), Hughes (2) and Mike Rinnhofer (2) securing their points. Alan Cotton and Gary Stewart claimed singles for the villagers.

However, Colebridge sit 12 points adrift of second place which was seized by St George’s B who whitewashed County Council A courtesy of Mark Jackson, Laurence Sweeney and Ron Vose.

Champions-elect Rugby A could afford to cede three points to Free Church B when turning up a player light.

Ryan Lines and Matt Outhwaite won their singles but were thwarted in the doubles by Sam Weaving and Sam Wiggins.

Free Church C are not going down without a fight, edging out St George’s A 6-4 thanks to a hat-trick from Martyn Todd and two wins from 15-year-old Adam Cofler, with the duo pairing for the doubles.

In Division Two, Colebridge C eased their drop worries with a 6-4 success over Rugby C. Michael Credland starred with a triple, Neil Wheatley added two and Lisa Rinnhofer one. Ben Holvey (2) and Hugh Crosfield (1) took the doubles for Rugby.

Four more points were gleaned in their match with Free Church D, with Awais Muhammed and Wheatley claiming doubles. Mark Bolshaw and Anthony Smith secured braces for Church, Cherry Matthews had a vital win and Bolshaw and Smith took the doubles.

St George’s C are struggling to stay above the bottom two and Free Church E did not help their cause when inflicting an 8-2 defeat. Olivia Fletcher had an outstanding treble for Church and also secured the doubles with Phil Blowey who won twice. Tom Harris also bagged two wins.

However, a 7-3 win over bottom team Eathorpe A restored a ten-point cushion between St George’s and the drop zone.

Brian Aston won his three, as did Coonan, and Kevin Finn notched one.

Whitnash A probably squandered their chance of promotion when falling 6-4 to Millennium despite a treble from Kevin Arris, who took the doubles with Dennis Woodhead.
