Leamington C&AC dominated the under-15 boys’ event at the Warwickshire Cross Country Championships at Cofton Park.

Daniel Wilkinson led superbly with a great front run to take gold in 15min 58sec.

Kieran Chahal completed a Leamington one-two after moving steadily through the field to finish only eight seconds behind Wilkinson.

The improving Alex Ibbs also finished strongly to take fifth and complete the team in 16:37.

Excellent support came from Greg West (8th in 17:12)and Toby Loveday (15th in 18:00).

The Hurt twins were the only Leamington runners in the under-13 girls’ race, running commendably in the tough conditions, with Larissa 22nd in 14:29 and Georgina 32nd in 15:15.

In the under-13 boys’ race, Will Eadon ran his best race of the season to finish a place outside the medals in 12:06, with Daniel Chahal 25th in 13:10.

Sam Wadsworth was the club’s only runner in the under-17 boys’ race, finishing 15th in 23:36.

In the under-20 women’s race, Megan McDonald was fifth, while Will Eadon was fourth in the under-13 boys’.

Kenilworth Runners fielded their first-ever youth team in the championships and produced promising performances across the board.

Kirsty Smith, who qualifies for the under-20 category, ran with the senior ladies, finishing in 48:27.
