Champions Brakes completed the first ever Midland Alliance double when they lifted the Polymac Services League Cup at Walsall's Bescot Stadium.
Andy Gregory scored the winner in extra time on Thursday after substitute Avun Jephcott had saved his side with an 88th minute equaliser. Nicky Campbell put Tipton ahead with a goal on the break six minutes before half time.
Brakes applied most of the pressure in the first half but Tipton defended well and made rapid progress upfield whenever possible. True chances were at a premium though, with neither Richard Morris nor his opposite number Danny Watson worked too hard.
That all changed on 39 minutes when midfielder Mark Myles evaded several challenges and fed striker Campbell, who beat Morris to the loose ball.
Roared on by the vast majority of a packed Bescot stand, Brakes threw everything at Tipton in the second half. Jamie Towers hit the woodwork, Martin Thompson saw a shot hooked away to safety and a Stuart Herlihy piledriver crashed off the crossbar.
Tipton were far from finished though and Morris had to be at his best to deny first Myles and then Ashley Longford, who was through on goal with seven minutes left.
The introduction of Jephcott finally gave Brakes what they needed. The powerful striker smashed in a deserved late equaliser when Tipton failed to clear a Towers corner.
Brakes poured forward in search of a killer blow, but extra time was inevitable. Dave Pearson had a low shot well saved by Watson as gaps started to open up.
Centre-back Gregory exploited this extra space to perfection, lashing a powerful drive past the diving keeper to put Brakes ahead. There was no way back for the Black Country men.
The final whistle was greeted with jubilant scenes on the pitch and in the stand. Captain Morton Titterton lifted the trophy at the end of his final match before retiring, completing a wonderful season of football.
Brakes: Morris, Towers, Hier, Knight, Gregory, Titterton, Herlihy, Adams, Mackey (Pearson 84), Thompson (Jephcott 79), Blake. Subs not used: Cooper, Pearcey.
