Village news for Everdon (May 14)
CHURCH SERVICE
Sunday, holy communion, 11am.

ANNUAL PARISH MEETING
At the annual parish meeting the chairman's report explained the new drainage scheme was completed last autumn. Despite disruption to village, t
his was finished within the stated time frame and seems to be a vast improvement.
Fawsley Road works did not take place and no explanation has been given as to when work will be carried out. There has been a deterioration in all road surfaces but Street Doctor responses are not bad.
The oak bus shelter will be erected in the next three weeks. The total cost of the shelter is £5,500 but a £1,000 grant has been received from Mrs Ogden and £2,000 from Awards for All (Lottery). Mrs Ogden has also given a grant of £1,000 for the provision of three dog waste bins
The chairman thanked Dominic Corley for all his work on fencing, hedging and repairs to the village green and also Pete Groves who had relaid the hedge on the Little Everdon turn free of charge. The finance report was given by Kevin Nichols.
The precept for 2007/8 was £3,000; in 2008/2009 it was £11,700 and in 2009/2010 it is £5,919. Reserve accounts for 2007/2008 were £782 and in 2008/2009 £8,779.
Reports were given by Councillor Gina Ogden from Northamptonshire County Council and David Jeyes from Daventry District Council.
A parishioner was concerned about the bad state of the roads, not only within the village area but everywhere. The chairman will look at this over the coming weeks.

PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
Mr P Neville was elected as chairman and Kevin Nichols was elected as vice chairman.
There was nothing further on the welcome pack since last month.
As the crab apple tree is outside the conservation area it could be taken down - a suitable replacement would probably be a Pink May Tree. The horse chestnut would be inspected for disease.
The July meeting will be held on June 30. Annual accounts were accepted and signed.
Contributions and articles for the June newsletter need to be sent to Jan Clark by June 19.
The next parish council meeting will be on June 2.
