Village news for Kilsby (October 23)
KILSBY WI
At the September meeting Linda Hartley arranged for the Rugby High School debating team, which enters competitions to national level, to debate the following motion: 'This house would introduce a policy of making the drivi
ng of motor vehicles by person over the age of 70 illegal.'
The lively debate was much enjoyed by members who finally voted against the motion.
At their AGM in October they were pleased to welcome back their president Barbara Marlow who had been absent in July and September due to illness. They also enjoyed a cheese and wine supper and some of Barbara's poems.
A group of members recently took part in a big tidy up around the village, reporting the centre was quite tidy. However they filled eight sacks with rubbish gathered from around the outskirts, mainly on the A361, A5 and Crick bridle road.
ST FAITH'S CHURCH
A recent coffee morning held at the home of Betty Ayres was well attended and raised more than £100 for church funds.
VILLAGE HALL
Repairs and renovations to the hall were discussed at the October meeting, including the removal of graffiti on the exterior walls.
This is a real problem in the village at the moment and is proving costly to remove.
